Chevrolet, with no signs of giving up introduced another Impala in 2005 in the Los Angeles Auto Show. This was another shot at getting back its title and somehow it did well starting that year. The Introduction of the 2006 Chevrolet Impala had high hopes from its management that it could somewhat bring some of the figures back. Indeed, Chevrolet did its homework and introduced a car that offers both style and performance.

The 2006 Chevrolet Impala used the new GM W platform combined with a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 211 horsepower, making it a fairly powerful car. It had new taillights unlike the previous circular type in the previous models. The Impala SS was also another option for customers that were basically the highlight of the 2006 Impala. The SS model used the Generation IV V8 engine in a front-wheel drive for the first time in a Chevrolet car.

The 2006 Chevrolet Impala also featured top of the line elegant interiors, making it more of a luxury and sporty sedan perfect for most users. The chrome accented buttons and wood trim center console were really sleek, not to mention the Impala logo found in the wood grain trim, which was aesthetically amazing. This model got a fair amount of audience, but still behind by a thousand miles from the popularity of its vintage predecessors.

2000 Chevrolet Impala

In the year 2000, which was somewhat a new start for every company, was also a year that Chevrolet decided to resurrect its best selling product name. The 2000 Chevrolet Impala was set to replace the Lumina model, but the Impala’s design was based on the Lumina’s W-body platform giving a more minimalistic and ergonomic look to the Impala. Unlike its earlier models, the 2000 Impala did not sport the same edgy, curvy look, but still had a classy feel to it that every car customer should be attracted to.

The 2000 Chevrolet Impala featured a front-wheel drive unlike its previous models. Customers were also given the option of 2 V6 engine variants, which was then refined and used in the 2004 Impala. The interiors of the 2000 model was expected to be exceptionally comfortable, it had cloth bench seats some variants like the LS was also upgradable to leather seats. It also sport top of the line safety features, making it another high quality Impala. From year 2000 – 2005, the Impala went through different designs, but still far from its vintage model’s success.

Chevrolet has to get back to the drawing board to regain the Impala’s reputation, but with the growing number of companies that are offering similar or even better models, Chevrolet has to step it up more than a notch.

1994 Chevrolet Impala

The Chevrolet Impala line is known to be one of the best selling cars of all time most particularly during its early years in the business. With the hope of getting back its groove, Chevrolet introduced another Impala in 1994, which had high hopes of getting back to the top of the sales competition.

The 1994 Chevrolet Impala fell short on almost all of the company’s expectations and sold only 6,303 cars, which was a puny fraction of the sales figures from its previous models. It was basically the time for the model’s impending doom, but Chevrolet managed to almost triple its sales in the following year offering another design, but still it was not enough.

The 1994 Chevrolet Impala took the wrong turn by incorporating the 5-spoke aluminum wheels, which was only manufactured in Australia by ROH. The unique aluminum wheels experienced a shortage resulting to lesser manufacturing of the 1994 Impalas. Sadly, the Impala’s legacy took a fall during this bad year for Chevrolet, although, the following years showed more promise. In 1996, there was another Impala bringing a new design to the table and somehow managed to sell 41,941 units, but it was still too low, so the company decided to stop offering the same product name. Unfortunately, its popularity took a bad fall, but at least the vintage models will never be forgotten.

1977 Chevrolet Impala

In the year 1977, the car industry was forced to shift along with the newer demands of customers. Most people wanted something new looking, but will offer economical solutions gasoline consumption and other factors. The 1977 Chevrolet Impala was designed to meet all the demands it had a taller, narrower and shorter body. This time it was lighter and smaller compared to the previous models.

Fuel efficiency was also one of its highlights, because it was much more efficient than the full-size models from other competitors. Other than that, the 1977 Impala may have smaller dimensions but the company managed to increase legroom, headroom and even trunk space.

In that same year the 1977 Chevrolet Impala took back the throne of being the number one in the sales position. It was even dubbed as car of the year by Motor Trend. Although, there were no convertible variants that year, because of the rumors about some federal issues, the Impala managed to gain back more than the respect of its customers. The 1977 model still brought GM’s V8 engines, which also gave customers an option to go for a diesel powered variant.

All in all, from 1977 up to 1996 this model was getting a large share in the sales department and was able to continue the Impala’s reputation.

In 1962 Chevrolet continued to manufacture its Impala models, because of its success in the previous years. The company was focused not only on it exterior, but also what’s found inside of the car. When it came out it was an instant hit for teenagers and just about anyone who is looking for a cool ride. It is without a doubt that this model took the car industry by storm bringing in the most unique and stylish car anyone has ever seen during those days.

The 1962 Chevrolet Impala sports the “C” pillar styling except for its Sport Sedan variant, which was a common sense to precede the “B” style of the previous year. But it was nothing like the “B” style exterior, the Sport Coupe models caught more attention than none, because of its “convertible roof” styling. The impala series started massively in the early 1950’s and continued its streak even up to the 1960’s. The 1961 Chevrolet Impala never fell short on its predecessors unlike other car models from different manufacturers. It went through a series of remodeling and later GM came out with a GM B platform to sport a new look for the Impala.

Maybe it was because of the good start that this line had preserved its popularity, but the bottom line for all car users is its money’s worth. No one would shell out an amount if they did not like the product, which means that the 1961 model had it coming for them, because of style and most of all its performance.


The 1961 Chevrolet Impala had a boxier and trim look than the previous models, which made it unique. The company never held back in changing the standards in the car industry and the Impala line is one of the most convincing models that changed how cars should look and feel. During 1960 it was yet another astonishing year for the 1959 Chevrolet Impala. Like its predecessors that sold over a million units, this model was set to go down the same road to fame. Every teenager or any person who saw how the car looked was caught in a spell with the Impala’s unique and stylish look.

The 1959 Chevrolet Impala came in both 4-door and two-door version, which instantly became Chevrolet’s best-selling car in the United States and was able to be on top for the next years to come. It has the famous “X” frame construction like others in the Chevy lineup, which featured 6-taillight rear end teardrop taillight shape that made it look even better.

At this present, no car model has had the same success as the Impala lineup, because the company was never contented with the typical and the normal looking car models. They were successful in pushing the limits and reaching new heights that the company industry never failed to recognize.

The years have passed and car experts are still looking back to the success of the Impala lineup and are making it their motivation to strive and create another model to top the record of the Impala. Chevrolet Impala SS 409, the legendary muscle car

Chevrolet introduced muscle car power to the people in the early 1960s, specifically the 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS 409. In the middle of 1961, Chevrolet Impala Super Sport option package showcased another new arrival, the 409-cid V-8, with a powerful engine.

The 1961 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 was a muscle car favorite in that era even the Beach Boys immortalized it in a song. Featuring a hardtop, the SS option included SS tags, a passenger grab bar, narrow whitewalls, a steering-column tachometer, and suspension upgrades.

The Chevy Impala’s engine was all about power. For 1961, Chevrolet built around 491,000 Impalas. Of these 453 had the SS connotation and only 142 got the 409. Its reputation spread quickly. A mainstream Chevy V-8 with a powerful torque and the ability to turn mid-15-second quarter miles with the standard rear axle and mandatory four-speed manual is something a car lover would look forward to for a muscle car. Then the Beach Boys sang “She’s real fine, my 409,” and a car legend was born.

The SS badge brought popularity of the Chevy brand into the 1970s before going on an extended hiatus. The Chevrolet Impala SS 409 lasted only through 1965 and yet it remained a popular muscle car up until now.
